The Ömer Fahrettin Türkkan Paşa Collection consists of 3,875 archival sources. The collection mostly includes military documents and photographs produced during the period when Fahrettin Pasha (1868-1948) served as the Ottoman army’s major general. Fahrettin Pasha was captured after the Medina uprising, and later joined the War of Independence.

This collection includes documents such as correspondence, prepared reports and intelligence reports which were made by the Ottoman army during the uprising known as the Medina Defense, which started under the leadership of Sheriff Hüseyin, the Sheriff of Mecca. Important military documents such as the chart indicating the status of soldiers, military operation notes, correspondence between Enver Pasha and the 4th Army Corps, and the letter about the appointment of Sheriff Haydar instead of Sheriff Hüseyin, are also included. All of these documents have been digitized in their transcripted form.

Maps and sketches used for military purposes also constitute a large part of the collection. Military photographs are equally as valuable. The collection’s contains photographs taken in the regions where Fahrettin Pasha served.
