About Atatürk Library

Atatürk Library falls under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Libraries and Museums. The library harbours extensive unique collections amassing over 500,000 works, which include printed Ottoman books, periodicals, manuscripts, rare works in foreign languages, maps, postcards, yearbooks, calendars, and personal archives.

As one of the first libraries established during the Republic period, Atatürk Library sets the intellectual and cultural tone of the city, both with its location and content.

The library's one-of-a-kind collections and archives are open to all researchers, and it offers services in three new reading rooms as part of the renovations completed on September 5th, 2022.

Through its contributions to Turkey's cultural and intellectual landscape, Atatürk Library serves as a critical focal point in the cultural and artistic life of Istanbul. The library regularly organizes events and publications, further cementing its place as a cultural cornerstone of the city.
