The collection includes 2081 manuscripts, of which 2120 are in Arabic and 114 in Persian. It also contains 4356 Turkish works in Ottoman and Latin letters and 302 documents. Osman Nuri Ergin, who was also a member of the Atatürk Library founding committee, is a historian known for his works about the city. The collection includes resources such as official documents, correspondence, letters, petitions, letters of thanks, greeting cards, receipts, articles announcing his appointment, newspaper articles, translations, reports related to the works of the Istanbul Municipality, documents about the building of the statue of Mustafa Kemal in Taksim Square, invoices of works printed by Osman Nuri Ergin in the newspaper printing house, documents about the function and problems in the police school and documents reporting statistics (for example: population numbers of districts and villages in Istanbul, etc.)

Some of the letters sent to Hasan Ali Yücel (the deputy of the period), Fatma Aliye, A. Süheyl Ünver, Tevfik Fikret, and Adnan Ötüken contain requests for help regarding relief for the elderly, childcare, and work, etc.

Other materials in the collection include documents about Muallim Cevdet and his death, the collection of Osman Nuri Ergin (who is referred to as the "Provincial Letterman" in most documents), reports about the Municipality of Istanbul covering various libraries and museums. The collection is valuable for learning about the Istanbul Municipality and understanding it’s past.
