Established in 1928 at the request of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, the Büyükdere Nursery has been revitalized and reopened with various new service areas. Located within this site, the Ahmet Bedevi Library opened its doors to patrons on November 26, 2023.

The Büyükdere Nursery and Gardening School, which remained active until 1997, was transferred to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) in 2013. The site, which had been unused and suffered significant deterioration since 1997, was redesigned in 2022 to include various functional spaces alongside school of horticulture

Developed with a commitment to preserving the historical value of the Büyükdere Nursery, the project encompasses a 180,000-square-meter area featuring a cafeteria, restaurant, seed center, event space, basketball court, and the library.

Situated in one of Istanbul's major green spaces, the library serves patrons with a collection of approximately 19,000 items across various disciplines. Operating within a 525-square-meter area with a seating capacity for 145 visitors, the library also hosts events that reflect the site's unique identity.

Local residents are welcome to use the borrowing services of the Ahmet Bedevi Library, as well as all other library branches affiliated with the IMM Department of City History, Promotion and Tourism, Directorate of Libraries and Museums.

Readers wishing to become members can quickly register and access our services using the IMM Library (İBB Kütüphane) mini-app located within the İstanbul Senin mobile application. 

Users who prefer to register via the e-Government portal (e-Devlet) should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane," and select the "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu" (Municipal Libraries Membership Inquiry and Application) link. After filling out the required information and clicking the "Başvur" (Apply) button, the process is complete; patrons can then access all IMM Library services using the password sent to their mobile phones via SMS or email. 

Alternatively, readers who prefer to register in person can simply apply at the libraries by presenting a valid official identification document, such as a Turkish national ID card, driver's license, or passport.

Accounts created via the "Sign Up" tab at katalog.ibb.gov.tr provide access only to our digital collection. To make seat reservations, you must complete your registration through the "İstanbul Senin" app, after which you can reserve seats via the "İBB Library" mini-app.
