Combining a commitment to transparency and public accessibility with a new-generation library vision, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) opened the Saraçhane Library on September 16, 2024. With the establishment of this library, the historic Saraçhane building has transformed from being solely an administrative government facility into a public space open for everyone’s use.
The Saraçhane Library, with a collection of approximately 4,500 works, not only makes access to information easier but also serves as a communal meeting point for all Istanbul residents. The library, realized with İBB's visionary approach, features open and semi-open areas that are accessible to the public for daily use.
All local residents are eligible to benefit from the lending services at the Saraçhane Library, as well as all libraries connected to the Library and Museums Directorate under the Department of Urban History and Presentation of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
