Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) has introduced the Turhan Selçuk Library as a new space for culture, art, and community life in Kadıköy, opening its doors to the people of Istanbul.
Our library is named after the master cartoonist Turhan Selçuk, who continued producing works in this field for many years after publishing his first cartoon in 1941 and who holds an important place in the history of Turkish cartoons.
Opened on January 6, 2025, the Turhan Selçuk Library brings new vitality to one of the most central locations in Kadıköy, with a 136-square-meter space, a capacity of 145 people, a garden, and a carefully designed interior.
The library hosts 9,236 works from various disciplines such as literature, art, history, and architecture, and it includes many children's books to make access to books easier for both children and parents.
Designed with a new-generation library concept, the building, like other İBB libraries, also serves as a venue for various art events, talks, and workshops.
All local residents can benefit from the lending services of the Turhan Selçuk Library, as well as those of all İBB libraries affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Urban History and Promotion, Library and Museums Branch Directorate.
