IMM Ahmed Arif Library

Opened on April 4, 2021, the Ahmed Arif Library is one of the pioneering initiatives in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s (IMM) project to transform traditional libraries into vibrant living spaces and cultural hubs.

Named after the renowned poet Ahmed Arif, our library is located in Istanbul’s Sultangazi district. Housed in an eight-story building, it spans 1,700 square meters, offers seating for 150 visitors, and serves the community with a collection of approximately 25,000 items.

The library features workshop spaces and YouTuber studios dedicated to digital software and video production, which have drawn significant interest from young people in recent years. A specially designed children’s section offers a rich collection of children’s books and interactive play areas.

On the library's second floor, the Ahmed Arif Corner showcases the 1968 first edition of the poet's seminal work, Hasretinden Prangalar Eskittim, alongside editions published in various languages and by different publishers, as well as books written about the poet.

As one of the many libraries opened in Istanbul's historically underserved neighborhoods, the Ahmed Arif Library hosts a diverse array of workshops and events ranging from literature and theater to painting and music.

Furthermore, it provides young people with a comfortable study environment and the opportunity to participate in guided study programs during exam preparation periods.

Local residents are welcome to use the borrowing services of the Ahmed Arif Library, as well as all other library branches affiliated with the IMM Department of City History, Promotion and Tourism, Directorate of Libraries and Museums.

Readers can register for membership through several convenient methods:

Readers wishing to become members can quickly register and access the services using the IMM Library (İBB Kütüphane) mini-app located within the İstanbul Senin mobile application.

Users who prefer to register via the e-Government portal (e-Devlet) should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane," and select the "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu" (Municipal Libraries Membership Inquiry and Application) link. After filling out the required information and clicking the "Başvur" (Apply) button, the process is complete; patrons can then access all IMM Library services using the password sent to their mobile phones via SMS or email.

Alternatively, readers who prefer to register in person can simply apply at our libraries by presenting a valid official identification document, such as a Turkish national ID card, driver's license, or passport.

Accounts created via the "Sign Up" tab at katalog.ibb.gov.tr provide access only to our digital collection. To make seat reservations, you must complete your registration through the "İstanbul Senin" app, after which you can reserve seats via the "İBB Library" mini-app.
