İBB Ayşe Hatun Library Information Note
Designed in line with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s goals of expanding next-generation libraries and transforming libraries into centers of culture, art, and knowledge, Ayşe Hatun Library was opened to the public on November 20, 2020.
The library is named after Ayşe Hatun, the mother of Sheikh Mustafa Ahî Resmî Efendi, the leader of the Resmiyye branch of the Kadiri Sufi order in the late 18th century. It is one of the first libraries established under the principle: "No district shall remain without access to culture, art, and books."
Located in Sulukule, one of the historical neighborhoods of Fatih, the library serves primarily children and young people, as well as local residents, with a technologically equipped 110-square-meter area and a total capacity of 20 people, supporting access to remote education.
Ayşe Hatun Library offers a diverse selection of children’s literature, in addition to books from various fields for adults, with a collection of 5,000 works.
Since its establishment, the library has hosted educational workshops for children and study programs for exam preparation, thereby supporting the learning environment in the neighborhood.
All local residents, including those in the service area of Ayşe Hatun Library, can benefit from the lending services of all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Branch Directorate of the Department of City History and Promotion under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
