Ayşe Hatun Library was put into service on November 20th, 2020, in Sulukule, one of the historical neighbourhoods of Fatih. It was one of the first libraries opened as part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s next generation library project with the motto," There will be no district where culture, art and books do not reach". It was designed in line with IMM’s goal of making next generation libraries that serve as centres of culture, arts, and information widely available.
The library is named after Ayşe Hatun, the mother of Sheikh Mustafa Ahi Resmî Efendi, the sheikh of the Resmiyye branch of the Kadiriyye sect, at the end of the 18th century.
The library has a total capacity of 25 people on a 110 square meter area. It provides services for all local residents, especially young people, including the technological infrastructure required for access to remote education. The Ayşe Hatun Library has a collection of 5,000 works, which includes a wide selection of children's literature, as well as books from various fields for adults. The library has been hosting educational workshops and exam preparation study programs since the day of its establishment.
All residents of the region, can benefit from the lending services of the Ayşe Hatun Library as well as all other libraries affiliated to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural Heritage, Directorate of Libraries and Museums. Readers who wish to become members should apply to our libraries with an officially valid identity document such as a TR ID card, driver's license, or passport.
