Beşiktaş İskele, one of the busiest spots in Istanbul frequented by many residents throughout the day, has gained a new living space. The book-café that will bring fresh air to Beşiktaş opened on April 26, 2023.

Reflecting Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s vision of “Living Istanbul,” Beşiktaş İskele Library has become a new meeting point for everyone who wants to read, study, or spend time accompanied by the sounds of the sea and ferries. Our library, operating with a book & café concept, stands out with a rich collection of 6,474 works selected from various disciplines.

The venue covers an area of 280 square meters and offers a spacious reading and relaxation environment for 100 people. In addition to lending services, Beşiktaş İskele Library hosts talks, author-reader meetings, and various cultural and artistic events, adding a new breath to the city’s cultural life.

All local residents can benefit from the lending services of Beşiktaş İskele Library as well as all libraries under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of City History and Promotion Library and Museums Branch Directorate. Those wishing to become members can quickly register and access services through the İBB Kütüphane Mini application available in the İstanbul Senin mobile app.

For membership through e-Government, users should visit turkiye.gov.tr, search for “İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane”, and click the “Municipal Libraries Membership Information Inquiry and Membership Application” link. After filling in the required information on the page, users can complete their application by clicking the “Apply” button. Using the password received via SMS or email, they can access all services of İBB libraries.

Alternatively, users can apply in person at the libraries with a valid official ID such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport.
