IMM Bulgur Palas Library
Located on Kocamustafapaşa Hill, known as the seventh hill of Istanbul, in Fatih, Bulgur Palas has taken its place as a new cultural and artistic venue in Istanbul.
Bulgur Palas, also known as the Bolulu Habib Bey Mansion, an important example reflecting 20th-century Istanbul civil architecture, was opened to the public on February 28, 2024.
Despite its history spanning over 100 years, the privately owned building remained unused and inaccessible to city residents for many years. It was purchased by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) in 2021 and restored.
The restoration was carried out by KİPTAŞ, and the refunctioning process was managed by İBB Heritage (İBB Miras). Bulgur Palas was revitalized as a public living space serving all Istanbul residents, featuring a library, exhibition and multipurpose event areas, social spaces, study areas allocated to student clubs, a restaurant, and an observation terrace.
The Bulgur Palas Library, located inside this magnificent five-story building, welcomes readers with an area of 1,190 square meters, a capacity of 150 people, and a collection of 21,661 works.
All local residents can benefit from the lending services of Bulgur Palas Library as well as all libraries under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of City History and Promotion Library and Museums Branch Directorate.
