About Çubuklu Silolar
Çubuklu Silolar is one of Istanbul’s significant industrial heritage structures, located between Paşabahçe and Kanlıca.
The area where the silos are located was opened to industrial buildings in the late 19th century to meet the city’s increasing energy needs. From the 1930s onwards, it was used as a storage area by private oil companies; various silos of different sizes were constructed in the region over different periods for this purpose.
Globally defined as industrial storage structures, silos have been used since the 19th century as warehouses for various products such as food, seeds, feed, minerals, and chemicals. Over time, as these functions diminished, silos have preserved their value today as heritage elements reflecting the architecture and urban memory of their era.
