İBB Fakir Baykurt Library
Opened on December 20, 2021, Fakir Baykurt Library is one of the first libraries established by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality under the principle of "No district will be left without access to culture, art, and books."
Named after Fakir Baykurt, one of Turkey’s most prominent literary figures known for reflecting the lives of Anatolian people in his works, the library is located in the Yeşilkent Neighborhood of Avcılar.
Operating in a 705 m² area with a seating capacity of 150, Fakir Baykurt Library brings together a rich and diverse collection of 17,000 books covering various disciplines and current topics.
Since its opening, the library has hosted educational workshops for children, talks and events for adults, and it serves as a vital study space for local youth.
All residents of the area can benefit from the borrowing services of all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Branch Directorate of the Department of City History and Promotion at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, especially Fakir Baykurt Library.
Those wishing to become members can easily register via the İBB Library Mini app within the İstanbul Senin mobile application.
Alternatively, users can register through e-Government by visiting turkiye.gov.tr, searching for “İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane”, and clicking the "Municipality Libraries Membership Information Inquiry and Membership Application" link. After filling out the necessary information on the application page, they can complete the process by clicking "Apply". They can access all library services using the password sent to their phone or email.
Applicants can also apply in person at any of our libraries with a valid official ID such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport.
