Feza Gürsey Library
Originally built as a defensive structure, the Anadolu Hisarı (Anatolian Fortress) has been reimagined as part of Istanbul's "museum city" vision through restoration works carried out by İBB Heritage teams.
Located in this historic area, the Feza Gürsey Library, named after Prof. Dr. Feza Gürsey, a globally renowned theoretical physicist, was opened to the public with a 550 m² indoor area and a seating capacity of 80.
The library, dedicated to Feza Gürsey, who spent part of his childhood in Anadolu Hisarı, symbolizes the values of science and enlightenment in a setting rich with history.
In operation since October 4, 2022, the library offers a curated collection of 8,223 books. Reflecting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s new-generation approach to librarianship, the Feza Gürsey Library enhances the community’s access to books, knowledge, and culture.
Residents of the area can benefit from borrowing services not only at the Feza Gürsey Library but also at all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Branch Directorate of the Department of City History and Promotion of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
