Established as part of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s vision to provide next-generation libraries functioning as cultural and educational centers, Şişli Habitat Library officially opened on February 2, 2023.

Located in one of Istanbul’s most central districts, Şişli Habitat Library offers readers a multifaceted experience with its rich collection and inclusive structure. The building housing our library is not only a knowledge hub; it also includes the Youth Platform, İstanbul Bookstore, and an exhibition area, serving as a multi-functional living space. This holistic setup brings the energy of youth together with culture and embeds it into the heart of the city.

The library spans 2,100 square meters with a seating capacity for 500 users. Its collection includes 20,299 works in a wide range of subjects such as history, literature, political science, philosophy, research and analysis, art, information technology, science, religion, personal development, cultural heritage, architecture and design, children’s books, and periodicals.

Residents of the area, as well as all Istanbul citizens, can benefit from the lending services offered by Şişli Habitat Library and all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Branch Directorate of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Urban History and Promotion.

Alternatively, you may also register by visiting the library with a valid ID such as a national ID card, driver’s license, or passport.

Reservation Rules

To make a reservation, please follow these steps:

• Log in to your library membership at katalog.ibb.gov.tr, then click the "Reservation" tab in the top menu.

• On the interactive map, select the desired seat and time slot.

• At your reservation time, scan the QR code received on your phone at the kiosk located at the library entrance (both for entry and exit).

Reservations can also be made via the “İBB Kütüphane” mini app within the Istanbul Senin mobile application.
