Hasan Hüseyin Korkmazgil Library – Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality

Named after Hasan Hüseyin Korkmazgil, one of the prominent representatives of socialist realism in Turkish literature, this library was opened to the public on August 20, 2022. Designed in line with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s vision of transforming traditional libraries into vibrant community hubs, the library is located in the Akşemsettin neighborhood of Eyüpsultan district.

Guided by the principle that “no district should be left without access to culture, art, and books,” the library aims to serve children and young people in underserved neighborhoods, breathing new life into the area. Since its opening, it has hosted various workshops, literary talks, and history conversations.

Spanning 1,000 square meters and offering seating for 150 users, the library provides access to a rich collection of 13,769 books.

Local residents—and all Istanbulites—can take advantage of lending services not only at this library but also across all facilities under the Library and Museums Branch Directorate of the IBB Department of City History and Promotion.

How to become a member:

• Download the İstanbul Senin mobile app and register through the “İBB Kütüphane” mini app for quick access.

• Alternatively, visit turkiye.gov.tr, search for “İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane”, and click on “Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu.” Fill in the necessary information and click Apply to complete the registration. Log in using the password sent via SMS or email.
