Kadıköy Pier, one of the iconic landmarks etched into Istanbul’s memory, is no longer just a meeting and transit point but has also transformed into a living space open to knowledge, culture, and books.
As the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, we opened the Kadıköy Pier Library on April 26, 2023, with a new-generation library concept.
While thousands of people pass through Kadıköy every day, this special venue now serves not only as a pier but also as a cultural hub.
With its spacious 480-square-meter structure and a capacity of 170 people, Kadıköy Pier Library welcomes readers, students, and curious travelers at all hours of the day, keeping pace with Istanbul’s rhythm. The library offers a peaceful atmosphere intertwined with the sea while also creating a breathing space within the hustle and bustle of city life.
Its rich collection of approximately 8,000 works includes a wide selection ranging from literature to art, urban studies to architecture and design, and history to philosophy.
Reflecting İBB’s vision of designing new-generation libraries as the city’s new centers of culture, art, and knowledge, the library also hosts various events.
All local residents can benefit from the lending services of Kadıköy Pier Library,as well as all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Directorate under the
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Urban History and Promotion.
