Locatedin Fener Neighborhood, Fatih district of Istanbul, the library was opened in 1990 asTurkey’s first and only women’s library and archive.
The library, which has built a comprehensive collection in the field of gender inequality and records data related to women, welcomes visitors with a capacity of 20 people in a 250-square-meterarea.
In our archive, which includes special collections, there are 13,758 books,310 women’s magazines in modern Turkish script and 40 in Ottoman Turkish,225 folders of ephemera,
583 theses, 7,000 articles, 115,150 newspaper clippings, 122 folders of documents about women writers,11,300 documents pertaining to women authors,292 rare works,
60 private archives,and 14,480 documents related to women’s NGOs.
Our library operates as a reference library only; borrowing is not allowed.Researchers and readers can access all information and documents only within the library premises.
