As part of the Lending Library projects initiated by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the Maltepe Lending Library was opened to the public on March 17, 2024.

Located in Maltepe Cumhuriyet Square, one of Istanbul’s bustling urban areas, our library is a key component of the transformation of this space into a cultural and artistic hub, aiming to facilitate access to books for Istanbulites.

Our library houses 2,445 books from reputable publishing houses, covering a wide range of fields such as history, literature, political science, philosophy, research and analysis, art, IT, technology, science, faith, personal development, cultural heritage, architecture, and design.

All local residents can benefit from the lending services of the Maltepe Lending Library, as well as all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Directorate under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Urban History and Promotion. Readers who wish to become members can apply to our libraries in person with an officially valid identification document such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport.

Readers wishing to become members can also quickly register and access our services through the İBB Library Mini application via the İstanbul Senin mobile app.

For membership procedures via e-Government, users should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane" (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library), and click on the link titled "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu" (Municipal Libraries Membership Information Inquiry and Application). On the page that opens for new memberships, they can complete their application by filling in the required information and clicking the 'Apply' button. By logging in with the password sent via SMS to their mobile phones and to their email addresses, they can access all services of İBB libraries.
