As part of the Lending Libraries and Book Stations project initiated by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the Mecidiyeköy Lending Library, the first of its kind, was opened to the public on October 21, 2021.
The Mecidiyeköy Lending Library is positioned as an essential component of the public space redevelopment implemented in Mecidiyeköy Square, one of Istanbul’s busiest and most central transit points. While Mecidiyeköy Square transforms into an urban space focused on culture, art, and socialization, the library serves as a meeting point for knowledge within this new vision.
Our library facilitates access to books with a collection of 2,000 works from reputable publishing houses, covering fields such as literature, art, history, cultural heritage, and research.
All local residents can benefit from the lending services of the Mecidiyeköy Lending Library, as well as all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Directorate under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Urban History and Promotion. Readers who wish to become members can quickly register and access our services through the İBB Library Mini application via the İstanbul Senin mobile app.
For membership procedures via e-Government, users should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane" (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library), and click on the link titled "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu" (Municipal Libraries Membership Information Inquiry and Application). On the page that opens for new memberships, they can complete their application by filling in the required information and clicking the 'Apply' button. By logging in with the password sent via SMS to their mobile phones and to their email addresses, they can access all services of İBB libraries.
