Named after Muallim Cevdet Bey, who made significant contributions to archiving and enriched our collection by donating his extensive book collection to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, this library was opened to the public in 2006.
Located in Kordonboyu Neighborhood, Kartal district, the library spans an area of 956 square meters with a capacity of 225 people, welcoming readers with its collection of 18,350 publications.
Boasting a wide-ranging collection that includes literature, art, philosophy, research, science, and architecture, the Muallim Cevdet Library also hosts various workshops, serving the people of Istanbul, particularly the residents of Kartal.
Readers who wish to become members can quickly register and access our services through the İBB Library Mini application via the İstanbul Senin mobile app.
For membership procedures via e-Government, users should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane" (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library), and click on the link titled "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu" (Municipal Libraries Membership Information Inquiry and Application). On the page that opens for new memberships, they can complete their application by filling in the required information and clicking the 'Apply' button. By logging in with the password sent via SMS to their mobile phones and to their email addresses, they can access all services of İBB libraries.
Readers wishing to become members can also apply to our libraries in person with an officially valid identification document such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport.
