As part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s vision to transform the traditional concept of libraries and provide Istanbul with new libraries that serve as cultural and educational centers alongside rich book collections, the Muzaffer İzgü Library was opened to the public on November 19, 2022.
Located in the Gülsuyu neighborhood of Maltepe, the library is named after Muzaffer İzgü, a writer who captivated generations with his books for children and young adults, masterfully blending humor with thought-provoking content.
Spanning an area of 700 square meters with a capacity of 130 people, the library boasts a rich collection of 20,000 books, including works from various genres such as history, literature, political science, philosophy, research and analysis, art, IT, technology, science, faith, personal development, cultural heritage, architecture and design, children’s books, and periodicals.
Serving as a center for culture, art, and knowledge in Istanbul’s disadvantaged neighborhoods, particularly for children and youth as well as local residents, the Muzaffer İzgü Library also hosts workshops and discussions.
