Located within the historic Okçular Tekkesi, an important heritage site passed down from the Ottoman era to the present, our library opened in 2013.

Our library was established by repurposing a section of Okmeydanı Kemankeşler Tekkesi, located in Keçecipiri Neighborhood, Beyoğlu district, bringing it back to Istanbul as a functional space with a library.

The Okçular Tekkesi Library, with its 150-square-meter area and a capacity of 25 people, makes access to information easy, meets the study space needs of local students, and hosts Istanbul residents with various activities. The library's collection consists of 3,649 works from diverse disciplines.

All local residents can benefit from the lending services at Okçular Tekkesi Library, as well as those offered at all libraries affiliated with the Library and Museums Branch Directorate under the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Urban History and Promotion. Readers who wish to become members can quickly register and access our services through the İBB Library Mini application via the İstanbul Senin mobile app.

For membership procedures via e-Government, users should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane" (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library), and click on the link titled "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu" (Municipal Libraries Membership Information Inquiry and Application). On the page that opens for new memberships, they can complete their application by filling in the required information and clicking the 'Apply' button. By logging in with the password sent via SMS to their mobile phones and to their email addresses, they can access all services of İBB libraries.

Alternatively, those wishing to become members may also visit our libraries in person with an officially valid identification document such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport and complete their registration on site.
