With the vision of spreading next-generation librarianship, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality opened the Sabahattin Eyüboğlu Library on July 7, 2022, in the Firüzköy Neighborhood of Avcılar district.

Named after Sabahattin Eyüboğlu—a renowned writer, academician, and translator who is an important figure in Turkey’s intellectual history—the library embodies the motto: "There shall be no district where culture, art, and books cannot reach." By focusing on children and youth living in disadvantaged and often overlooked parts of the city, the library breathes new life into these communities.

Our library offers service in a 1,000 square meter space with a capacity of 150 people. Its rich collection consists of 11,738 books covering diverse fields such as political science, philosophy, history, literature, architecture, theater, children’s books, periodicals, information technology, science, personal development, and cultural heritage.

All local residents can benefit from the lending services of Sabahattin Eyüboğlu Library, as well as those provided by all libraries in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Urban History and Promotion, Library and Museums Branch.

Readers wishing to become members can easily apply and access our services through the İBB Library Mini application via the İstanbul Senin mobile app.

For membership procedures via e-Government, users should log in to turkiye.gov.tr, search for "İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane" (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library), and click on the link "Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu". On the page that opens, fill out the required information and complete the process by clicking the 'Apply' button. All İBB library services can then be accessed with the password sent via SMS and email.

Alternatively, those who wish can visit our libraries in person with a valid government-issued ID such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport to complete their registration.
