The Sezai Karakoç Library located in Güngören opened on October 30st, 2021. The library is part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s next generation library project whose motto is, “There will be no district where culture, art and books cannot reach".
The library is named after Sezai Karakoç, one of the most important writers in Turkish literature.
The library hosts a collection of 10,000 works in many genres such as History, literature, political science, philosophy, architecture, and periodicals. The library has a capacity of 75 people and an area of 335 square meters. While it hosts literary events, theatre, painting, music, art workshops, educational activities for children, and supportive seminars for parents, it also provides students with study programs that they can attend during exam preparation periods.
All residents of the region can benefit from the lending services of the Sezai Karakoç Library as well as all other libraries affiliated to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Cultural Heritage, Directorate of Libraries and Museums. Readers who wish to become members should apply to our libraries with an officially valid identity document such as a TR ID card, driver's license, or passport.
