Designed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to facilitate residents’ access to books, culture, and the arts, the Sâmiha Ayverdi Library opened its doors on January 10, 2023, in the Cevatpaşa Neighborhood of Bayrampaşa. Named after Sâmiha Ayverdi, an influential figure in Turkish literature who dedicated her life to transferring cultural heritage, the library embodies the motto: “No district will be left without culture, art, or books.”
Spanning 930 square meters and offering a capacity of 200 people, the Sâmiha Ayverdi Library presents a rich collection of 24,490 volumes composed entirely of up-to-date publications from various disciplines.
All local residents can benefit from the lending services of the Sâmiha Ayverdi Library, as well as from all libraries affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Urban History and Promotion, Library and Museums Directorate.
Readers wishing to become members can quickly sign up and access services via the İBB Library Mini application within the İstanbul Senin mobile app.
For e-Government membership registration, users should log in at turkiye.gov.tr, search for “İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane” (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library), and click the “Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu” link. Provide the necessary information on the application page and complete your registration by clicking the ‘Apply’ button. You can then use the password sent to your mobile phone and email to access all İBB library services.
Alternatively, those who wish can register in person with an official photo ID such as a Turkish ID card, driver’s license, or passport.
