Aiming to expand next-generation librarianship and based on the principle “No district shall remain unreached by culture, art, and books,” the Suat Derviş Library was opened on December 29, 2022. Another addition to İBB’s network of libraries serving as both book-rich collections and cultural and education centers across Istanbul, the Suat Derviş Library is located within the İsmetpaşa Life Center, integrated with services such as Yuvamız İstanbul and Mahalle Evi to meet the needs of the local community.

Our library is named after Suat Derviş, a pioneering and prolific figure in Turkish journalism who transcended the norms of her time. Serving an area of 710 m² with a capacity of 150 people, our library’s collection consists of 19,490 works, covering up-to-date selections from various disciplines and accessible to all Istanbulites, especially residents of İsmetpaşa.

The Suat Derviş Library also functions as a vibrant community center, hosting literature, theatre, painting, music, and art workshops; educational programs for children; supportive seminars for parents; study programs for students preparing for exams; various talks; and providing essential study space for local students.

All local residents can benefit from the lending services of Suat Derviş Library, as well as those of all İBB libraries affiliated with the Department of Urban History and Promotion and the Library and Museums Branch Directorate.

To register via e-Government, go to turkiye.gov.tr, search “İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kütüphane”, and select “Belediye Kütüphaneleri Üyelik Bilgileri Sorgulama ve Üyelik Başvurusu”. After completing your details on the page, click “Başvur” to finalize your application. You can then log in using the credentials sent via SMS and email to benefit from all İBB library services.
