The gas silos in Beykoz Çubuklu, which had long been unused, have reopened as the “Çubuklu Silos Digital Arts Museum” following restoration and adaptive reuse works carried out by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Thanks to the careful efforts of IBB Heritage, this once abandoned historical site has been transformed into a multi-functional cultural and arts center of global example.

Spanning a total area of 20,000 square meters, Çubuklu Silos welcomes Istanbul residents with a Digital Arts Museum, Nature and Science Museum, workshops, library, welcome center, stage, sky meadow, children’s playgrounds, café, and restaurant, among many other units. This newly integrated space offers visitors a unique Istanbul experience, blending the city’s cultural, artistic, and scientific heritage.

The museum’s opening exhibition, “Reconstructing Consciousness: What Is Reality?”, presents an alternative perspective on reality through media art. Featuring works by nine local and international artists, the exhibition invites viewers to question what lies beyond the visible, making the unseen visible through their art.

Made possible through the support of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, this collaboration brings together Ars Electronica and Piksel.Creative Solutions on a shared platform. Ars Electronica, a pioneering institution in digital art, technology, and science, and a global leader of the digital revolution since 1979, presents a special selection to art lovers in Istanbul as part of this partnership.

Thus far, the museum has also hosted the exhibition “Void,” featuring contemporary works by artists such as Barış Çavuşoğlu, Berkay Tuncay, Buşra Tunç, ha:ar & Hakan Gündüz, MAOTIK & Nik Colk Void, media.tribe, and Meggie Weinheimer, exploring the concepts of light, space, and emptiness.
